McGhee’s Bakery

Lotus Electrical Services recently completed works to a new office block at McGhee’s Bakery in Glasgow. The offices had been built as a shell and using Lotus’ “Design to Delivery” package, McGhee’s now have these offices set out to their specific needs. Managing this process allowed Lotus Electrical Services to come in on budget and hit the timescale required before works commenced.

Client Background

Founded in 1936 at the original bakehouse in Oran Street, Maryhill, Glasgow by Dugald McGhee, the company operated and grew to service local shops and markets with a range of freshly baked morning rolls, tea-bread & savoury products. Continual company growth has meant that this family-run bakery is now servicing clients across the Central Belt of Scotland. They send vans to Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Stirling & Perth on a daily basis, whilst establishing themselves as a supplier of the Glasgow favourite “Crispy Roll”. The company moved to state-of-the-art premises at the M8 food park in June 2005 where they now operate out of possibly the most efficient bakery production unit in Britain!

The Project

McGhee’s approached Lotus in late April looking for an electrical contractor to design and install commercial lighting, small power, IT cabling, fire alarms, intruder alarms and door entry to their pre-built offices. Lotus Electrical was only too happy to oblige and met with their Facilities Manager and went through exactly what they would require for the new offices, making sure we could accommodate all their needs.

Upon a provision of a budgetary quote, the agreement was made and works commenced under the condition we met with their deadline for office staff to move into their new space.

Our electrical engineers who carried out these works all deserve a special mention, as they worked tirelessly every day to complete the project. We are extremely pleased with their efforts and the works they have carried out. We are delighted to now have further projects in the works with McGhee’s as they were as impressed with the final product as we were.
