Douglas Terrace Case Study
Lotus Electrical Services is putting the finishing touches on a housing development project for Loreburn Housing Association, with the main contractor being Ashleigh Scotland. This continues our working relationship with both Loreburn Housing & Ashleigh where we worked together on the St Cuthbert’s, Kirkcudbright, Housing Development.
Client Background:
Loreburn Housing Association was established in 1982 and is a registered charity. They own and manage over 2,500 properties across Dumfries & Galloway, offering a wide variety of high-quality accommodation to suit a range of needs.
Main Contractor Background:
Ashleigh Building was established in 2001, and are a Main Contractor covering a diverse range of sectors across various procurement routes. Their main offices are in Prestwick and Dumfries and operations generally cover South West and Central Scotland. The company has achieved a sustainable level of turnover with a capability to deliver up to £60m per annum.
The Project:
The Douglas Terrace project comprises of six two-bedroom semi-detached houses and two semi-detached two-bedroom bungalows in Castle Douglas which is very local to Lotus, only 10 miles from our office base of Kirkgunzeon. The project was carried out to the drawing package and specification laid out from the tender stage.
Each home has over 1kW of Solar PV to increase the energy performance and to make the new house more sustainable. We have used an “On-Roof” system comprising of 4x 280W REC high-performance black solar modules using Solax inverters. These were supplied through Krannich Solar who we have a great relationship with and have used their materials on the majority of our Solar PV work this year. In 2018 alone, we have installed over 80 Solar PV systems across Dumfries & Galloway, with more and more enquiries coming through every week.
Whilst not completely finished, as you can see from the pictures, the work has been installed to a very high standard and we are very happy with our electrical engineers, skilled labourers and apprentices whose efforts have contributed to making this a smooth running & successful project.
The success of the contract has also made us incredibly keen to work alongside Ashleigh & Loreburn Housing again and continuing these relationships.
